Recovered Energy Resources announces control systems contract with The Aarell Company
for a renewable energy project at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene Texas.

Recovered Energy Resources, Inc. (RER) announced today that is has issued a contract to The Aarell Company in Troy Michigan for development of ENCORE, RER’s alternative energy power plant management and control system. The software package is for use in RER’s gasification based energy production facilities. The first installation of ENCORE will be at the Dyess Air Force Base renewable energy project being managed by Siemens Building Technologies. The ENCORE installation includes individual PLC controls for each of the five Westwood Energy gasification units, fuel and ash handling systems, interfaces with WOW Energies WOWGen system and Lundell Manufacturing’s Material Recovery Facility. The ENCORE system will also exchange control information with the plant’s SCADA system managing the electrical distribution equipment that interconnects the utility electrical feed to the base as well as the electrical feed from the WOWGen system.

The plant being developed by Siemens is the first of its kind to utilize gasification and an organic Rankine cycle to convert municipal solid waste (MSW) into electricity, which will be used by the base. In this installation the combined MSW from the base and the City of Abilene will be used to produce 6MW of electricity for Dyess. It is part of a $39 million task order issued by the US Air Force to Siemens.

"Dyess is setting an example for the Air Force and for the military in general, about to effect ways to minimize energy supply and enhance our national security mission. Their work to integrate these technologies shows a real desire to preserve and protect a positive relationship with their community (Abilene) and for the environment on water, energy and waste issues.” said Assistant Secretary of Energy Alexander Karsner in a recent visit to the base.

The RER plants represent the state-of-the-art in alternative energy generation. They are capable of making use of a wide range of renewable and recovered resources as fuel. The plants offer low to near zero emissions and convert fuel into energy with great economy and efficiency.

“RER is excited about the contract with Aarell. We have chosen them exclusively because of their proven expertise in combustion, control, automation, material handling, and systems integration. Few companies have the knowledge and insight to develop the controls for these next generation energy facilities.” stated Bradley Schneider, President/CEO of RER.

“ENCORE is a comprehensive multifunction control strategy for our plants. It has the ability to integrate multiple pieces of equipment and systems that represent multiple technologies, into a process that delivers consistent quality energy to our clients reliably, economically, efficiently, and in and environmentally friendly manner.” Schneider continued. “Having Aarell involved will be a significant boost to the system’s development and to the project at Dyess.”
